A BILL to amend and reenact section twenty-six, article twenty-two,
chapter twenty-nine of the code of West Virginia, one thousand
nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to continuing
the state lottery commission.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section twenty-six, article twenty-two, chapter twenty-
nine of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred
thirty-one, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 22. STATE LOTTERY ACT.
§29-22-26. Continuation of state lottery commission.
After having conducted a performance audit through its joint
committee on government operations, pursuant to section nine,
article ten, chapter four of this code, the Legislature hereby
finds and declares that the state lottery commission should be
continued and reestablished. Accordingly, notwithstanding the provisions of section four, article ten, chapter four of this code,
the state lottery commission shall continue to exist until the
first day of July, one thousand nine hundred ninety-eight two
thousand one.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to continue the State Lottery
Commission until July 1, 2001, pursuant to the provisions of the
West Virginia Sunset Law.
